HOTD Character Profiles
Amelia Ackers (An alias, real name unknown)
Specialty: Witches
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick, non-lethal weaponry (tranquilizer gun)
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Thank you."
From Valor's field notes: Amelia demonstrates great potential as a sorceress. Her powers over the air, and various other abilities and knowledge of magick, make her a vital part of the team. Her empathy toward the creatures we hunt is worrisome, however.
Aurora Hill
Specialty: Shape-Shifters
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Sickle
First Appearance: Hunters of the Dark #5
First line of dialogue: "Come now, Brett. It hasn't been all that terrible, has it?"
From Valor's field notes: Aurora is a scout for The Agency who hunts shape-shifters. She's stationed in Egypt, providing us information from the shape-shifter capital of the world. A bit stubborn, she can rub people the wrong way, but good intentions are behind her every action.
Becca Reichert
Specialty: Demons
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Wooden stakes, daggers
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Um...miss, are you...are you alright?"
From Valor's field notes: Becca is instrumental in gathering intel for The Agency, with her contacts in New York, and her ability to blend in at the street-level. She has no desire to join the hunter team at this time, but I'm working on changing her mind.
Brett Starr
Specialty: Giants
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Sword, axe
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "There are some fine ladies here."
From Valor's field notes: As the muscle of the group, Brett is fearless and enthusiastic for a fight, and doesn't question orders. The trophies he keeps from his fights is something to keep a watch on.
Cameron Richards
Specialty: Shape-shifters
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Sai, bo
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Should we come back later?"
From Valor's field notes: Cameron brings a much-needed perspective of shape-shifters to the group. He's a competent fighter as well, but his line of work may have made him a little paranoid, as happens with many shape-shifter hunters.
Christabel
Species: Shape-Shifter
Affiliation: N/A
Weapon(s) of choice: Poison, gun
First appearance: Night Cries (Hunters of the Dark #2)
First line of dialogue: "What? Not happy to see me?"
From Valor's field notes: Shape-shifters are always very dangerous, able to replace anyone. Christabel knew her target well and was able to execute a switch nearly flawlessly. I'd hate to think what would have happened had she gotten away with it for much longer.
Damien Farr
Species: Vampire
Affiliation: La Faer Noir
Weapon(s) of choice: Hand-to-hand, fangs
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Hey, thank you all for making it out here tonight."
From Valor's field notes: Damien has certainly proven useful, but I don't like the idea of a hunter being involved with a vampire, especially one with such ties to their kind.
Diana
Species: Vampire
Affiliation: La Faer Noir
Weapon(s) of choice: Hand-to-hand, fangs
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "But what of his majesty, M'lady?"
From Valor's field notes: The horrible creature that Shanna Hunt is rumored to be reincarnated from is nothing like the young woman that I know. Her resemblance to Diana is a coincidence, and anything more is the result of a fanciful imagination.
Felicia Wales
Specialty: Shape-shifters
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Taser, knife
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you."
From Valor's field notes: While not officially a hunter, Felicia provides a valuable service as a scout for the team, and works in the laboratory and infirmary. She also has minor psychic abilities that have proven useful in the past, although they are inconsistent and can not be relied upon.
Hunter Kiess
Specialty: Research
Affiliation: Visum et Repertum, The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Gun
First appearance: Night Cries (Hunters of the Dark #2)
First line of dialogue: "Yes. Quite right."
From Valor's field notes: As a scholar, part of Visum et Repertum, Hunter's knowledge in the realm of the supernatural is a godsend. He is well-versed on a variety of monsters and can be counted on to locate specific information, or likely places to find such. His guidance over the hunters, and particularly Krystal, seems to be a good fit.
Jade Cox
Specialty: Werewolves
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Her own creations, whip
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Very nice to meet you."
From Valor's field notes: Jade brings with her a fiery curiosity of the occult and science, and has the ability to create weaponry and tech with her brilliant mind. Her medical knowledge is another asset, but she has demonstrated that she can be rather rash in the field.
Jordan Cox
Specialty: Werewolves
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Knives (daggers, machetes, etc), bow and arrows, bo
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "In need of an assist?"
From Valor's field notes: Jordan is level-headed and a voice of reason in the group. He keeps his sister in check, but may be too reliant on her, given their history of hunting with one another.
Kelly
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Shanna?"
From Valor's field notes: The death of Shanna's best friend, Kelly was tragic and has stayed wth Shanna, haunting her as she delves deeper into a life of hunting. But Kelly's death also prompted Shanna to join our cause, so I can't say that it was unnecessary.
Krystal Fellstar
Specialty: Student
Affiliation: The Agency, Visum et Repertum
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearance: Night Cries (Hunters of the Dark #2)
First line of dialogue: "So, why isn't he answering the door?"
From Valor's field notes: Krystal is dealing with things very well, considering that she is younger than the other hunters. And while she is not a hunter herself, her special gift of necromancy have come in handy in the past, and I can't help but feel that she is well-suited for certain missions, despite her inexperience. I only hope that her power does not corrupt her, as it has every necromancer that has come before her.
Lupe
Species: Loup-garous
Affiliation: N/A
Weapon(s) of choice: Claws
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Mmmm. I'm in a wild mood, Surfer Boy."
From Valor's field notes: Lupe is unstable. Instability in a powerful creature is a terrible pairing.
Muriel
Species: Shape-shifter
Affiliation: La Faer Noir
Weapon(s) of choice: Poison
First appearance: Face the Dark (Hunters of the Dark #3)
First line of dialogue: "The Highland Trolls?"
From Valor's field notes: Muriel is a deadly shape-shifter, able to transform into a giant scorpion. In her native form, she is potentially very dangerous, particular her tail full of poison, but it's her ability to shape-shift and wield that poison in any number of different ways that is particularly worrisome.
Natalia
Specialty: All monsters
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Gun
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "A thinker in our midst; things begin to look more promising."
From Valor's field notes: Natalia is invaluable to the team. She is the best undercover agent we have employed, and as she grew up under The Agency's care, is very loyal. She is master of many weapons, as well as different varieties of martial arts, and has yet to be bested in battle. Her knowledge and photographic memory come in handy as well. She is very distant however, and it doesn't seem like the other hunters trust her.
Noel
Species: Vampire
Affiliation: La Faer Noir
Weapon(s) of choice: Hand-to-hand, fangs
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "You shouldn't wander into the park at night. You never know what kind of creeps you could run into."
From Valor's field notes: I know very little of Noel, and that worries me. Almost as much as his relationship with Jordan.
Quentin "Quinn" Lightheart
Specialty: N/A
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Knives
First appearance: Face the Dark (Hunters of the Dark #3)
First line of dialogue: "They're dead."
From Valor's field notes: Quinn has adjusted to hunting rather quickly, given his traumatic first experience with creatures of the night, but I worry about how he will handle himself in the field. He seems sharp and quick on his feet, but given the extreme trauma of his recent past, I worry about him freezing in the field and getting himself, and others, hurt.
Rachel Thyme
Specialty: Vampires
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Crossbow, wooden stakes
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "It feels like you're on The Real World, but, you know, when it was good."
From Valor's field notes: Rachel's background in archaeology is sure to prove vital for the team's future, and her confidence makes her a natural leader in the field, although she hasn't bonded as fluidly with her teammates as others have.
Rangda
Species: Demon
Affiliation: N/A
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearance: Night Cries (Hunters of the Dark #2)
First line of dialogue: "Yes."
From Valor's field notes: Rangda can force people to do things against their will. She can possess people. She is allegedly a demon queen, if Balinese mythology can be believed. Why she has aided Shanna in the past, and why she is infatuated with the hunter, I do not know. But her long term goals can not be good.
Rocquele
Species: Witch
Affiliation: N/A
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "How thoughtful of you to drop by."
From Valor's field notes: Witches are tricky, crafty creatures, and I'm wary anytime I encounter one. Rocquele is an arrogant one, however, and easily pushed into hasty action.
Samantha Cummings
Species: Succubus
Affiliation: La Faer Noir
Weapon(s) of choice: Energy bursts
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Rocquele! So glad you could make it, Dear."
From Valor's field notes: The head of La Faer Noir's New York branch is savvy and smart, a formidable enemy, but one that seems willing to compromise if it's beneficial to her.
Scarlet Fever
Species: Vampire
Affiliation: The Crimson Rope
Weapon(s) of choice: Fangs
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Indeed."
From Valor's field notes: Ambition is a dangerous beast, and Scarlet has ambition in spades.
Serene
Species: Siren
Affiliation: Sirens
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearance: Night Cries (Hunters of the Dark #2)
First line of dialogue: "Hi."
From Valor's field notes: Classified
Shanna Hunt
Specialty: Demons
Affiliation: The Agency
Weapon(s) of choice: Cross-dagger
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "Yes, I hear you, Valor."
From Valor's field notes: While Shanna is rather inexperienced and was reluctant to join The Agency, she seems to give the group much-needed balance. Given her recent tragedies, she is a strong young woman. I just hope she's a fast learner.
Tessa
Species: Djinn
Affiliation: Loyal to Samantha Cummings
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearance: Her Dark Destiny (Hunters of the Dark #1)
First line of dialogue: "She was nearly at her limit when I stopped her, my liege."
From Valor's field notes: There is nothing more powerful than a djinn, who can manipulate reality. The only good thing is that she must obey Samantha's commands. I hope Samantha can keep a tight rein on this creature, or it could the end of us all.
Trivillis
Species: Warlock
Affiliation: N/A
Weapon(s) of choice: Magick
First appearnce: Face the Dark (Hunters of the Dark #3)
First line of dialogue: "Ah, please don't go yet. The show's just getting started."
From Valor's field notes: A warlock with as much power as Trivillis is dangerous. With werewolves at his disposal, and a twisted form of torture, it's a good thing that his demon blood forces him to follow certain rules.
