HOTD Casting Call: Jade

Continuing with my dream cast for a Hunters of the Dark movie or TV show, I have some pretty strong candidates in mind for Jade.  As always, leave a comment if you have another actress in mind (or if you want to just second any of my awesome choices).  :)

Runners Up to play Jade

Lauren Cohan (The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries)

Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl)

My Choice for Jade

Phoebe Tonkin (The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries)

I envision a really strong, butt-kicking young actress in the role of the hotheaded hunter Jade, who loves action and reacts before really thinking things through.  All three of these actresses have been really confident in their various roles, but perhaps it's the idea of cute little Dawn from Buffy that has me leaning toward the other two girls, who I feel would be awesome as Jade.  Lauren and Phoebe also have more physical roles, and both have more of a dark, edgy, and sexy side to them, which matches up with Jade really well.  In the end, however, I can not get over the presence that Phoebe Tonkin had in The Secret Circle, and it's that playfulness and bad-girl edge that she showed off there that put her over the edge for me.  I feel strongly about this one - she would be perfect for the role.

HOTD Casting Call: Rachel

I thought it would be fun to look at which actors I would like to play the characters from Hunters of the Dark, if it should ever be adapted into a movie or television series.  So, I'm choosing three actors for each character, who I think would do the role justice, with one that I think would be perfect for the role.  If you have any thoughts, feel free to leave them in the comments.  This is who I'm thinking for Rachel...

Runners Up to play Rachel

Zoey Deutch (Ringer, Beautiful Creatures)

Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Nashville)

My Choice for Rachel

Maggie Grace (Lost, Taken)

I've loved Maggie Grace since I first saw her on Lost, and that self-absorbed, messed-up character that we saw in that show, that slowly became someone more sympathetic over her run, is in perfect synch with Rachel.  All three of the girls here certainly have the looks to play the prettiest of the hunters, and all three look great as blondes (loved Zoey Deutch as a blonde in Beautiful Creatures), and all of them have experience playing spoiled, bitchy characters, but as Rachel is supposed to be a bit older than the other hunters, I ruled Deutch out, and ultimately, I just love Maggie Grace and would love to see her step into Rachel's shoes!

Dark Genesis Giveaway

No memories. A foreign world. One epic adventure.

Dark Genesis is a new YA paranormal fantasy from the creator of the Hunters of the Dark series.  You can get your copy of Dark Genesis now for FREE by filling out the Rafflecopter below.  Everyone who enters also has a chance to win a $40 gift card to Amazon or Barnes & Noble – it’s your choice!! This is an international contest and everyone who enters can choose their e-format of choice to receive their copy of Dark Genesis for free from Smashwords! And did I mention the $40 gift card?!

Here's the synopsis:

"Alyssa opened her eyes to darkness. And in the first flash of light provided by a gathering storm, she could make out a ring of bodies surrounding her.

With no memory of who she is, Alyssa stumbles into a dark world populated by witches. The witches are powerful, and demonstrate frightening powers, but even more terrifying are the monsters who rule over the land. Vampires, werewolves and other awful creatures of the night have taken over, forcing the witches behind stone walls, afraid to venture outdoors. But Alyssa finds that as she kills certain monsters, memories return to her, memories of a life on Earth, and the boy she left behind.

The quest to collect her memories and piece together the puzzle of what has happened to her is a daunting one, with betrayals and sacrifices every step of the way. But Alyssa is determined to fight for a world that is not her own, destroying powerful monsters along the way, so that she can return home to the boy she is coming to love through the memories she recollects."
